Mi Vida en
mis Manos (My life in my hands) is an educational
program promoting positive values to children and youth living in high-risk,
vulnerable environments.
The program
aims at reinforcing resilience in participants by making them aware of their
abilities and talents, as well as instilling self-respect and acceptance and
helping them envision a future for themselves.
Our
participation in the program is centered in reinforcing people’s capacity to
positively transform their environment, both individually and collectively, and
the challenges involved in doing this. During a five-day workshop and with the
valuable aid of a “plant-ally”, we reinforced values of citizenship that
participants could be part of.
The program’s
success lies in its replicability. Over 250 children have participated in the
program in its four implementations, in Caracas in July and August 2017,
September 2018 and in Paria in April 2018.
