Mango Bajito was an interactive installation for IAC 2017, an international architecture conference and festival.

Maracaibo is a hot and dry city, where urban vegetation needs constant irrigation. The garden was an invitation to interact not only with plants but with others and sharing the responsibility of keeping something alive through common effort. In order to lower a plant for watering, at least two people had to work together.

For the closing party of the festival two beers were attached to each hanging plant and participants and assistants met around the task of lowering and drinking them. The Venezuelan expression “Mango bajito” refers to an opportunity at hand, something too good to miss.
